Mucocutaneous Candidiasis Information

What is Mucocutaneous Candidiasis?

Mucocutaneous Candidiasis is superficial infuction that may involve almost any cutaeous or mucous surface of yhe body. it is particulary likely to occur in diabetics, during pregnancy and in obese persons who perspire freely. Antibiotics and oral contraceptive agents may be the first sign of HIV infection.

Causes of Mucocutaneous Candidiasis

The Immune system failure is the cause of Mucocutaneous Candidiasis. The immune system is made up of white blood cells that use proteins to fight off infections. Defective T-lymphocytes or low level of immunoglobulin. It can also be genetic predisposition that you got from either one parent (dominate) or both parents. Although this is still not been fully shown, sometimes the patient will have no medical record of this type of skin disease being shown in their family.

Sings and Symptoms of Mucocutaneous Candidiasis

  • Creamy white patches in the mouth or on the throat.
  • Painful cracks at the corners of the mouth.
  • Thrush appears as creamy-white patches.
  • Skin rashes, patches, and blisters found most commonly in the groin, between fingers and toes, and under the breasts.
  • Vaginal itching and irritation with a curd like discharge.

Treatment of Candidiasis

The effective treatments for candidiasis includes :-

  • The oral anti-fungal antibiotics such as fluconazole and itraconazole are found very effective in the treatment of mucocutaneous candidiasis.
  • Short courses of oral antifungals can be applied for the fast recovery from disorder.
  • Fluconazole as amphotericin B is an effective for treating mucocutaneous candidiasis.
  • The gene replacement therapy is also very suitable for the treatment.
  • One of the widely used treatment of it is the transfer factor, which is a cell-free protein extracted from the T lymphocytes of Candida -immune donors.
